Darlene "Dee" M. Johnson, 73, died Thursday evening, September 22, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital, Boardman Campus.
Darlene, affectionately known by most as "Dee," was born September 12, 1943 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Sydney and Lynne Dornshuld Forsyth.
Raised in Youngstown, she was a 1961 graduate of South High School. After graduation, she began working for Dollar Savings Bank until her marriage when she became a dedicated homemaker and mother. After raising her sons, she began working again in the office for Acme Steak, then in accounts payable for Phar-Mor, and retired from Homes for Kids, where she worked as a secretary.
Some of her favorite interests included bowling, playing pool, cooking for family and friends, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and generosity towards others.
She is survived by her husband, Edward L. Johnson whom she married February 14, 1973; two sons, Douglas (Suzanne) Hunt and Bradley (Jeanette) Hunt, both of Columbus; stepson, Edward (Mary) Johnson Jr. of Hershey, PA; sister, Barbara (Rod) Kramer of Boardman; seven grandchildren, Marta, Bela, Nick, Sidney, Elijah, Eddie Jr., and Emmalyn.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., where family and friends will be received on Monday from 4:00 to 5:15 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Canfield.
