Youngstown - Darlene "Mugga" Ruth Desimone, 78, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Darlene was known by her family and friends as "Mugga," was born July 27, 1945 in Franklin, PA, a daughter of the late Homer G. and Ruth E. (Leach) Leslie.
She moved to the Mahoning Valley as a child and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown. She was known as "Mugga" by her grandchildren.
Darlene worked for K-Mart in Austintown as a store supervisor for over 22 years until they closed. She later worked for Walmart in Boardman as a store supervisor for ten years before retiring. She was known as "Serg" by her coworkers.
Darlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Darlene loved traveling, going through Mill Creek Park, and spending time at home in her garden. She also liked to give back and donate to different charities and churches.
Darlene is survived by two children, Richard P. Desimone of Baltimore, MD and Laura L. (Donnie Lawrence fiancée) Desimone of Youngstown, OH; three grandchildren, Jessica L. (Piper Pipe fiancée) Desimone of Youngstown, OH, Joey Desimone and Olivia Desimone both of Baltimore, MD; two great fur grandchildren Puppo and BooBoo; and her sister, Diane Burks of Columbus, OH.
Besides her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Paul R. Desimone, whom she married on September 21, 1963 and died January 1, 2000; and her brother, Jerry Ray Leslie.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street in Poland. There will be a funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Mike Byus officiating. Interment will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown
