Poland - Darlene Josephine Kennedy, 91, died February 1, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living. Darlene was born August 1, 1925 in Lincoln County, MN, a daughter of Sigurd Sr. and Annie Johnsen Vick.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Northwest Airlines during WW II.
She was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church, where she was very active serving many meals at church functions as well as the Rescue Mission. She was also a member of the Ruth Shrine #64 of Poland.
Darlene enjoyed baking, gardening, and babysitting.
Her husband of 55 years, Merle E. Kennedy, whom she married May 9, 1944 died in 1999.
She is survived by three daughters, Carol (Donald) Velcio of Hinckley, Diane (Richard) Liber of Hartford, CT, and Lois (Richard) May of Poland; three brothers, Sigurd Vick, Jr. of Cottage Grove, MN, Donald Vick of Redwood Falls, MN, and Roger (Sandy Bergstrom) Vick of Hendricks, MN; two sisters, Laverne (Harris) Morseth of Minneapolis, and Judith Osmon of Spring, TX; 9 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Darlene was preceded in death by one son, Gary Kennedy; brothers, Merlin and Darwin Vick; and sisters, Adelaide Bluhm and Bernell Pleisis.
Services will be held Saturday at 11:00AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received Saturday from 9:30-10:45 AM at the funeral home.
