Dante P. Zublena

Dante P. Zublena, 87, formerly of Youngstown, died Monday afternoon, May 9, 2016 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation in Salem.

Mr. Zublena was born April 29, 1929 in Youngstown, a son of the late Paul and Mary Zublena.

A lifelong area resident, he was a 1947 graduate of Chaney High School. He worked for General Extrusions, retiring after 30 years of service.

Mr. Zublena was a longtime member of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Youngstown, where he served as a deacon.

Mr. Zublena was a proud United States Navy Veteran and served in the Korean War from 1948 until he was honorably discharged in 1952.

His hobbies included collecting stamps and coins and cheering on the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.

He is survived by his daughter, Joann (Michael) Bovo of Hubert, NC; son, Michael (Kristine) Zublena of Washington; half brother, Richard Soarse; three grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Bovo and MiKayla Zublena; four great-grandchildren, Irena and Leland Bovo, Easton Zublena, and Kaleb; and sister-in-law, Julie Zublena.

In addition to his parents, Dante was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Zublena; grandson, Christopher Lee Bovo Jr.; two sisters, Rena Morris and Enez Fanone; three brothers, Robert, Paul, and Thomas Zublena; his step-father, Joe Soarse; and his former wife, Joan Reading Hall.
