Poland - Daniel J. Fanzo, 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday morning, February 11, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Fanzo was born February 27, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of Daniel and Mary Jane Hazlett Fanzo.
Daniel was a 1958 graduate of Carrick High School in Pittsburgh. From 1963 until 1965, he served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Seabee's. After his discharge from the Navy, Dan continued to serve his country in the Naval Reserves. He retired after 23 years of service.
Dan worked in maintenance for Lyden Oil and retired in the early 2000's.
He was a member of Bethel Friends Church, American Legion Post #472, and the Mount Nebo Sportsman Club. Daniel enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, watching the History Channel, vacationing with his family and his Wednesday morning bible study. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
His family brought him the most joy. He leaves his wife, the former Amy Kehren, whom he married June 25, 1960; four children, Tammy (Stephen) Bayer of Canfield, Richard (Candace) Fanzo of Poland, Lisa (Phil) Calzo of Poland, and Amyjo (Dante) Ginnetti of Poland; ten grandchildren, Stephen and Josh (Denise) Bayer; Cieara (Tony Irizarry) and Philip Calzo (Tricia Jones); Daniel, Richard, Adam, and Alex Fanzo; Kendal and Dante Ginnetti; three brothers-in-law, George (Patty) Kehren, Harry (Cindy) Kehren, and Mark (Kyle) Burkhart, all of Pittsburgh;one great-granddaughter, Zoe Bayer; cousins, Jill and Dave Wagner, Sandy and Gene Williams, Linda Furraitti, and Bill Price; several nieces and nephews; Pastor Bobby Murphy and his church family; and a host of neighbors and friends.
Besides his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Keith Kehren and cousins, Judy Price and Dan Furraitti.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 15th at 2:00 p.m.at Bethel Friends Church, 2771 Spitler Rd., Poland, OH, 44514 with Pastor Bobby Murphy officiating. Friends and family will be received one hour prior at the church.
