Daniel L. Daugherty, 57, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Dan was born August 7, 1959 in Youngstown, a son of Charles and Jane Rosenberger Daugherty.
Raised in Struthers, Dan was a 1977 graduate of Struthers High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1977 until 1980, including time served in Germany. At the conclusion of his service, Dan made his home in San Jose, California.
There he worked along side his younger brother, Ken, as a cabinet maker at Formtech. While living in California, Dan along with the company of his brother, sisters and friends, loved spending time on the beautiful beaches, especially Panther Run Beach, and in the mountains.
In 1987, Dan decided to return to his hometown of Struthers and he continued his work as a cabinet maker for McRoyals in Youngstown.
Dan grew up at the race track watching his father race cars which led him to his love of NASCAR, Jeff Gordon, and riding his Harley. Canoeing down the Mahoning river as well Beaver Creek out by the old train trestle, fishing, and karaoke were among Dan's other favorite past times. He also was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved to play harmonica and write songs, which led his son Daniel to play harmonica in a band.
