New Middletown - Dale DeWayne Mace, 91 of New Middletown, OH, died Monday, March 28, 2011 in residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Mace was born January 23, 1920 in Struthers, a son of Grover and Julia McCue Mace.
He was a 1939 graduate of Springfield High School and was a WWII U.S. Army Air Force Veteran. Mr. Mace worked as a Stationary Engineer for Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 38 years, retiring in 1978 and then worked for General Motors in Lordstown for four years. He was a member of the Lowellville Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. Dale gave his life to Jesus Christ many years ago, and his family rests in the comfort that Dale lives eternally with Jesus, his Lord and Savior. Mr. Mace was a member of the Springfield Historical Society, the Coachman Club, and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading, and spending time with his family.
His wife, the former Elizabeth Reiter, whom he married August 22, 1941, died June 2, 1999.
He is survived by his two sons, Gary (Mary) Mace of Montrose, MI, and Keith (Becky) Mace of Charleston, WV; a daughter Cheryl Mace with whom he made his home; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Mace of Blowing Rock, NC; two sisters-in-law, Frances Reiter of New Middletown and Ruth Ekis of Hubbard; 9 Grandchildren - Douglas (Eadie) Mace, Robyn (Jamie) Resset, Delynn (Chris) Fairbanks, Derek (Karise) Mace, Kari Mace, Julie (Teddy) Huffman, Jennifer (Roy) Hattley, Stephanie (Todd) Wood, Emily (Jared) Pyles, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Mace, three brothers, Paul, Grover, Jr., and Robert "Buddy" Mace and a sister, Hilda Walford.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, and Thursday from 2:00 - 2:45 pm, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm.
