Dale Batson, 78, of Youngstown. Our Dale passed away peacefully Tuesday evening. He was 79. Dale was born on November 7, 1938, son of the late Elverna (Totten) and Donald Batson of Youngstown. He was a 1956 graduate of Chaney High School and a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Germany. He worked as an engineer for the Erie Lackawana Railway for 16 years. He later worked for Great Lakes Canning before starting his own business Dale’s Stained Glass where he made and sold stained glass lamps. During his retirement years he worked for Clinlab as a courier.
Dale had a passion for golf, his garden, cribbage, the Cleveland Indians and most of all spending time with his friends and family. He had a special place in his heart for his granddaughters, doing many fun things with them. He was a member of Bethel Friends church in Poland. His friendly, warm manner and sharp wit will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Gary Batson and his daughter, Arlene Batson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Sandra (Marko) Batson, his two stepdaughters, Stefanie (John) Boggs of Boardman and Jill Trimble of Poland, two granddaughters, Sydney and Tyler Boggs and his sister, Donna (Tim) Ruane of Columbiana.
There will be a memorial service on Monday September 18, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Bethel Friends church in Poland with Pastor’s Steve Rhodes and Bobby Murphy officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 South Range Road, Canfield, OH 44406. Arrangements are by the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.
