Cynthia Ann Dobran, 62
POLAND – Cynthia Ann Dobran, 62, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her children on June 5, 2019, following a bravely fought battle with cancer.
Cynthia was born on Feb. 28, 1957 in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Dr. Ernest and Ruth Powell Pedley. She spent part of her childhood living in Jamaica, a time she often recalled fondly, and the majority of the first 30 years of her life living in southern Ontario, Canada.
She traveled extensively throughout her youth, visiting many countries and making friends across the globe. She has made a home in the Youngstown area for the past 32 years.
Cynthia has degrees in Music and Horticulture. Later in life, she went back to school to become a Special Education teacher and completed a master’s degree in Deaf-blind Education. She was a teacher for the Trumbull County Board of DD for the past 17 years. She loved her job and was passionate about enriching the lives of her students.
Above all else, Cynthia loved being a mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and loved to get into adventures with her grandchildren. She had an unwavering faith and was active in her church, Poland Presbyterian. She enjoyed taking walks in Mill Creek Park and Poland Woods, visiting with her many friends, going on road trips around the United States, bike riding, and playing the piano.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Ellie (Phil) Speck and Heidi Osborne, both of Cuyahoga Falls; her son, Jimmy Dobran of Charlotte, N.C.; her grandchildren, Gianna, Parker, and Ada; her companion, Barry Jones of Poland; her sisters, Allison Pedley and Susan Pedley; her brother, Trevor Pedley; her stepmother, Carol Pedley, all of southern Ontario; her niece and nephews; and many dear friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland Chapel and Monday from 10 to 10:45 at the Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Paul Anderson and the Rev. Dr. Debbie Cerra officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made in memory of Cynthia to The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation at cholangiocarcinoma.org.
