Cornell Day, 89, of Poland, OH and Miami, OK, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.
Cornell was born in Struthers, Ohio to Louis and Julia Day on August 10, 1929. He went to school in Poland, Ohio. He married Anna Maria Day on Februrary 5, 1953 in Stuttgart, Germany. He held many great jobs but loved driving the school bus with his wife as his helper. Sgt. Day was a veteran of the Korean War in the United States Army and served as a medic. He was awarded the Army Occupational Medal. He was involved in bowling leagues, coaching baseball, and cheering on the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and the Ohio State University as well as cheering on his many grandchildren at any event.
Cornell is survived by Anna Maria Day, wife of 65 years and his children, Shirley Day, David (Lynda) Day, Gary (Joy Peterson) Day, Gerald (Sharianne) Day, Theresa (Michael) Henady. He is survived by two siblings, Hilda (Frank) Dobson, Robert (Alta May) Day and grandchildren, Lisa (James), David (Stephanie), Roman (Karen), Alyssa (Brandon), Patricia (John), Jacob, Austin (Erica), Jerica, Meredith, Jarod and great grandchildren, Alexander, Carson, Kyla, Asher, and Tanner.
Besides his parents, Cornell was preceded in death by two sisters, and six brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday December 1, 2018 at the Faith Fellowship Church of God , 388 East Midlothian Blvd. in Youngstown with Pastor Jonathan Mitchell officiating. Friends may call Friday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
