POLAND--Constance L. Swan, 93 of Highland Avenue, went to be with the Lord Saturday afternoon at her residence surrounded by her family and caregivers. Mrs. Swan was born June 28, 1915 in Blaina, Monmouth Shire, South Wales, a daughter of John & Margaret Davis Roberts. Her family moved from South Wales to the United States in 1931 settling in Austintown. She was a 1933 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, and a 1938 graduate of the Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for the Youngstown Hospital Association at both the North Side and South Side Hospitals. Mrs. Swan was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church where she lead music worship and sang in the church choir and served on many church boards. She was a member of the Youngstown Photographic Society, and loved to play the piano, and taught piano lessons for many years. Her husband, William Swan whom she married June 2, 1939, died August 3, 1995. She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Roger) Northall of Champion and Dolores Swan - Mintz of Pensacola Fl., four grandchildren, Melissa Wyda of Pensacola Fl.,Gretchen English of Florence Al., David Mintz of Cincinnati and Mark (Brittany) Northall of Pigeon Forge, Tn., and 5 great-grandchildren, Brayden Wyda, Tori Dodrill, Kennedi Dodrill, Ryan Mintz and Cheyenne Northall. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Hawkins and Eileen Roberts and three brothers, Alfred Roberts, Jack Roberts and Ronald Roberts. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, January 28 from 2:00-3:45 pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland where funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm., with Pastor Darrin English officiating.
