Vienna - Clyde Anderson, Jr., 87, formerly of Youngstown, died Tuesday evening, September 16, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Anderson was born June 4, 1927 in Youngstown, a son of Clyde and Cecilia Carlson Anderson.
Raised in Youngstown, Clyde attended The Rayen High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during World War II from January of 1945 until he was honorably discharged in August of 1946. While serving in the Navy, Mr. Anderson received his GED. Upon his return home, Clyde was employed as a milk delivery driver for Isaly Dairy/Superior Dairy, retiring in 1984 after 29 years of service.
In his younger years, Clyde's hobbies included camping, boating, bowling, golfing, and more recently he enjoyed reading.
His wife, the former Betty Klem, whom he married July 3, 1954, preceded him in death on December 6, 1979. He is survived by his two sons, Gregory (Patricia) Anderson of Dunedin, FL and Mark (Sarah) Anderson of Berlin Center; sister, Karen (John) Soldan of Garner, NC; brother, Gene Anderson of Vienna; two step-grandchildren, Mark (Gina) Kren of Lisbon and Renee (Michael) Foley of Austintown; and two step-great grandchildren, Graeme Kren and Mason Foley.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Kennedy.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, where family and friends will be received from 2-3:45 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown.
The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mr. Anderson's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
