Clark Abbott Jones

Poland - Clark Abbott Jones, 67, of Poland, died Sunday evening, March 30, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

Clark was born April 20, 1946 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, a son of Rev. George and Frances Abbott Jones.

Raised in Poland, Clark was a 1964 graduate of Poland Seminary High School. He attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute and Youngstown State University. Clark's passion in life was the emergency care profession, and he dedicated his life to the field. He began his career as Junior Fireman for the Poland Fire Department where he later served for many years as a volunteer firefighter. He was a firefighter for Boardman Fire Department and at the same time served as manager of the former American Ambulance in Youngstown. He then moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico where he owned and operated Three Crosses Ambulance Company. Returning to Youngstown he became the general manager for Advanced Gold Cross Ambulance in Ohio and Pennsylvania. In 1987, he accepted a position as general manager for an ambulance company in Alta Loma, CA.,and then as general manager for a company in Roswell, New Mexico. In 1990, Clark once again returned to Youngstown and to Gold Cross Ambulance. In 1995, Gold Cross was purchased by Rural Metro and Clark continued on as Rural Metro's regional manager. Clark also started his own consulting business, Medical Transportation Consultants. In 2000, Clark accepted the position as planning and operations coordinator for Mahoning County Emergency Services where he was appointed the county's emergency-management director in May of 2008. He retired from that position in January of this year.

Clark served in the United States Army Reserves and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, where his late father served as a Pastor.

Clark is survived by his wife, Kim, whom he married April 16, 1987; two daughters, Leeann (Vincent) Argiro and Monica Jones Myers all of Poland; four grandchildren, Kamyron Jones, Genevieve Argiro, Braeden Joy and Samantha VonKennen; brother-in-law, Larry (Christine) Means of Boardman; and his loving dogs, Ruby Rose and Keebler Louise.

Besides his parents, Clark was preceded in death by his grandson, LeLand Vincent Argiro.
