Clara Marie Navy- Early on Sunday morning February 28, 2016 the Lord called home His good and faithful servant Clara Marie Navy. After living a long and fulfilling life, Clara, 103, passed from this world peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Clara was born January 25, 1913, in Youngstown, the eldest daughter of Domenic and Antoinette (Gagliano) Russo, and was a lifelong area resident.
Clara was the matriarch and inspiration for her beloved family. Her strong faith, loving spirit and unwavering dedication to her family left an indelible impression on each and every life that she touched. Her home was the central gathering place for family during the holidays and other events. But, it was her homemade cooking and baking that were the highlight for all who enjoyed them.
Her beloved husband of many years, Anthony Navy, whom she married in 1931, passed away in 1978.
She is survived by her three daughters, Cecelia Parro of Poland, Antoinette (Jerry) Suess of Boardman, Donna (Bob) Daloise of Canfield; two sons, Constantine (Boy) (June) Navy of Florida, and Anthony at home, who was her dedicated caregiver; brother Andrew (Rosetta) Russo; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 17 great- great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Clara was preceded in death by a son Domenic; brothers, Nicholas, Anthony, Domenic and Michael; sisters, Angeline Popio, Carmel DeOnofrio, Rose Mastrodonato and Mary Russo; son-in-law, Rocco J. Parro, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday at 11:30am at Christ our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Struthers, with the Rev. Fr. Bernard Bonnot as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11:15am at the church.
