Poland - Clara Virginia Honneffer, 93 of Poland, died Friday, April 29, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Mrs. Honneffer was born June 13, 1917 in Weston, WV, daughter of Robert and Bertie Carrie Stewart Aspinall.
She graduated at the age of 16 from the Orwell High School and was the class valedictorian.
Mrs. Honneffer and her family moved to Poland in 1955. She and her husband co-owned the Suburban Aluminum Supply in Struthers for many years and retired in 2001, at the age of 84. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, and was an avid sports fan and enjoyed basketball, baseball, bowling and golfing. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling with a special love for historical sites.
Her husband Harold W. Honneffer, whom she married, October 11, 1950, died June 14, 1977.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Linda) Honneffer of Lakewood, NJ; two daughters, Cynthia (Laverne) Devore of Portersville, PA, and Laura (David) Plunkett of Camarillo, CA; a brother Howard (Polly) Aspinall of Portersville, PA; a sister Sarah Lee (Edward) Hallstein of Grove City, PA; six grandchildren - Gail (Bill) Simons of Pulaski, PA, Richard Devore of Harrisville, PA, David (Fiancé Michelle Scott) Honneffer of Ghana, Africa, Kenneth (Julia) Honneffer of Raleigh, NC, Krysten (Darryl) Cote of Ventura, CA, and Joshua Plunkett of Camarillo, CA; and five great-grandchildren. Jared and Tori Irwin and Ryan, Cory and Erin Devore.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, David Honneffer.
Family and friends will be received Monday from 2:30 - 3:45 pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where funeral services will be at 4:00 PM, with Pastor Melva Libb, officiating.
