Clara L. Evans, 80 , of Poland, OH, passed away December 15, 2017 at Shepherd of the Valley Skilled Nursing in Poland .
She was born April 8, 1937 in Youngstown, OH, daughter of Howard and Mildred (Mansfield) Killius and had been a lifelong area resident.
Clara was a graduate of South High School and had worked as a Claims Processor for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and had retired from Professional Risk Management in 2000. After her retirement, she worked part-time as a claims processor for several area companies.
She was a member of Bethel Evangelical Friends Church in Poland. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and reading.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara (Ray) Moore of Poland, OH; her son, Joseph Evans of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Gabby (Chris) Massey of Boardman, and Ashley (Jake) Zimmerman of Lowellville; four great-grandchildren, Abel and Ruthanne Zimmerman, and Kennedy and Landon Massey. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Thelma Wilson, and Virginia Mayerik.
Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday December 19, 2017 at Bethel Friends Evangelical Church with Pastors Steve Rhodes and Bobby Murphy officiating. Friends may call from 3-4:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests material contributions take the form of donations to the food pantry of the church.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Shepherd of the Valley Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing who lovingly cared for her these past several years.
