Struthers - Clara A. Andrews, 95, died early Tuesday morning, December 6, 2016 at Maplecrest Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Clara was born December 21, 1920 in Campbell, a daughter of Pompeo and Girolama "Mamie" (Gaiarsa) Ghioldi.
Raised in Campbell, she was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. After graduation, she was employed for 10 years at Weatherbee Coats as a seamstress. On February 28, 1946, she married Robert J. Andrews, Sr., and became a dedicated homemaker. In 1949, they moved to Struthers, where they raised their family and enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2008.
Mrs. Andrews was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, a former member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of AARP.
Clara enjoyed tending to her rose bushes and planting her annual flower gardens, watching the birds outside her window, particularly the cardinals, traveling with her husband, and cooking and baking. She especially loved this time of year and the Christmas festivities.
Mrs. Andrews is survived by her daughter, Margaret "Peggy" (David) Maloney of Struthers; three sons, Robert J. Andrews Jr. of Brunswick, John A. Andrews of Streetsboro, and William T. Andrews of Struthers; four grandchildren, Laura Ann(David) Siarkowski, David R. (Mandy) Maloney, Robert J. (Anita) Andrews, and Jennifer A. Maloney; and three great-grandchildren, Fiona Claire and Orion Morgan Maloney, and Joshua David Siarkowski.
In addition to her parents and husband, Clara was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfonso and Paul Ghioldi and a sister, Evelyn Burgmyer.
A prayer service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Celuch officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Clara's name to one of her favorite organizations, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
