Clair Taylor âa�" 85 SALEMâa�"Clair Taylor, 85 of 1916 S. Lincoln Ave. died Thursday morning at the Alterra Sterling House. Mr. Taylor was born November 12, 1921 in Industry, PA, a son of Grover & Temperance Morrell Taylor. He was a 1939 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, and a member of the White Memorial Wesleyan Methodist Church in Struthers. A WWII Veteran, Mr. Taylor served as a 1st. Sergent in the 89th. Air Service Group in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, where he received the Bronze Star, the WWII Victory Metal, and the Good Conduct Metal. Mr. Taylor worked for Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad, as a Terminal Trainmaster, retiring in 1981 after 42 years. His wife, the former Almira Hiner whom he married February 6, 1946 died March 3, 2003. He is survived by one daughter, Ruth (Jim) McCooey of Columbiana, one son John Taylor of Akron, four grandchildren, Julie (Donald) Creel, Sarah McCooey, Daniel McCooey, Katie McCooey, and four great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Taylor, Kody Creel, Kyle Creel, and Karissa Creel. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas Taylor, Ernest Taylor, Robert Taylor, Lewis Taylor, and one sister Temperance Hiner. Family and friends may call Saturday from 10:00 âa�" 11:45 am., at the Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church, 1095 Newgarden Ave., where services will be held at 12:00 pm.
