Boardman - Chris A Johnson, 91, of Boardman, died Monday evening at Assumption Village.
Chris was born August 8, 1921 in New Castle, PA, a son of Chris and Muzz Johnson.
He was a graduate of Struthers High School. He attended Kent State and Youngstown State University and received his Bachelors degree in Engineering. He later received his Masters in Education from Westminster College. He was an engineer for East Ohio Gas Company and was an art teacher for East Palestine Middle School.
Chris was a World War II Army veteran serving in 45th Division under General Patton and served in Europe.
Chris loved the arts, especially water color, photography and wood carving. He was a member of the Water Color Society in Youngstown. He and his wife Evelyn enjoyed gardening and traveling. In their 39 years of marriage they traveled all over the World. On their honeymoon they traveled to all of the National Parks in the United States.
Chris leaves his wife, the former Evelyn Mae Everett Skopic, whom he married June 1, 1974; one son, Chris (Sara) Johnson of Rehobeth Beach, DE; two step-daughters, Kathy (John) Syphard of Boardman and Holly Prystash of Columbus; twelve grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Gretchen, John, Heather, Molly, Daniel, Kevin, Sarah, Greg, and Nicholas; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his step-son, David Skopic.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 1:30 pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home Poland. Friends will be received Friday from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM at the funeral home.
