Salem- Cheryl Anne Freeze, born August 17, 1946, a daughter of the late Maxie and Margaret Humphrey, went peacefully to dance in heaven on January 28, 2024. Cheryl was married to the love of her life, the late Charles “Butch” Freeze on September 28, 1968. Cheryl dedicated her life to loving her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; working in her flower gardens, and spreading in her words: “peace, joy and love” to everyone she came in contact with.
She leaves to cherish the memories of her contagious smile, her laughter, and love- her son and his wife, Chuck and Shelli Freeze, with whom she made her home; son, Robert Freeze; daughter, Tonia Freeze; her sister and brother-in-law, Eudora (Dodie) and Richard “Dick” Lowry; sister, Laurie Bosi; and sister-in-law, Laura Humphrey.
Cheryl’s pride for and dedication to her grandchildren and great grandchildren was indescribable. She attended every event possible, cheering them on; not only at games, matches and races but was also their biggest cheerleader through life. Grandma Cheryl was always available to talk through the day, give advice, and always uplifted sorrows.
Her eight beloved grandchildren whom she poured her tenacious love into include: Vincent (Taylor) Petrella, Sierra (Tyler) Bradley, Danni Sue Petrella, Anthony Petrella, Charlie Freeze, Maxwell Freeze, Miya Freeze, and Jacob Freeze. Cheryl also leaves two great grandchildren whom she adored, Thaddeus Bradley and Parker Jean Bradley, and a host of nieces and nephews, most of whom spent their summers at Cheryl’s house enjoying the best pool parties ever.
In addition to her parents and husband, Cheryl was preceded in death by her daughter, Christi Freeze; her brother, Raymond Humphrey; sister, Marsha Humphrey; nephew/godson, Derek Lowry; nephews, Robert and Michael Freeze; and nieces, Kirsten Leetch-Pepperney and Alice Freeze.
