Charles E. (Charlie) Ruth, 87 Salem-Charles E. Ruth, 87, died Sunday evening at Blossom Nursing Home. He was born in Lorain, Ohio April 14, 1917, a son of Charles Strean and Lillian Stewart Strean Ruth Rodibaugh. Mr. Ruth was an electrician for Republic Rubber (Aeroquip Corporation) for 38 years, before retiring in 1982. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Phillipines. Charlie also worked at Robbins Furniture, Carnegie Steel, and Amerâa�a��s Hobby Shop. He enjoyed photography, having photos in the Youngstown Junior League Calendar. He received various awards at the Canfield Fair for is photographs. He was always available to take videos and pictures for family and friends at his own expense. Charlie was a member of the Youngstown and Columbiana Rose Societies, where he received numerous awards. He was a self-taught organist and played the piano, guitar, and organ all by ear. In his younger days, he enjoyed model trains; and built and flew radio controlled model airplanes. He was active in the South United Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon, trustee, elder, and a Sunday school teacher. He was a Cub Scout leader and was a volunteer at Head Start. He leaves a daughter, Charlene Grace (Robert) Reeder of Canfield; three sons, Harry Leonard (Martha) Ruth of the Villages, FL, Donald Charles (Vivian) Ruth of Dayton,OH, and Charles Victor (Brenda) Ruth of Hubbard,OH; 16 grandchildren; and11 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded death by his wife of 68 years, Grace Lundgren, who died in August 2004; and a brother Donald Ruth, who was killed during WWII.
