Youngstown- Charles A. Rich, 81, of Coitsville Road, Campbell died Friday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital after an extended illness. He was born June 10, 1920 in Campbell to Apollonio and Lucia Parisi Richiutti. A graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, he also attended Youngstown College. He was a life long area resident. Mr. Rich was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving with the 104th Infantry Division, âa�A"Timberwolvesâa�A�, He was awarded the Combat Infantrymanâa�a��s Badge. He was involved in the Netherlands, Belgium, and the German Campaigns, and served actively from November 1942 until June 1945. A member of the Campbell Police Department from 1949, serving 30 years, retiring in 1977 at the rank of Lieutenant. After his retirement he worked as a security guard for Astro Shapes and Wear United. Active in many organizations, Mr. Rich was member of St. Johnâa�a��s Orthodox Church, the church council, AMVETS Post 44, Fraternal Order of Police, Italian-American Political Club, Cas Amigos, Sports Pagers Club 104th Infantry âa�A"Timberwolvesâa�A� National and Ohio Chapters, VFW Post 3538, and the Carovellesi Society. Besides his wife the former Julia Holibonich, whom he married May 14, 1960, he leaves one son: Charles of Campbell; Sharon Rich of Struthers; and Diane (Robert) Ciszewski Rich of Youngstown; one brother: Albert of Warren; one granddaughter: Alexandra Nicole. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Carl, Vincent, Rocco, Dominic; three sisters: Sadie Testa; Mary Diullo; and Angelyn Antonucci. A Funeral Service will be held 10AM, Monday at St. John Orthodox Church. Friends may call 5-8 PM, Sunday, with a Parastas Memorial Service at 7:30 PM, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, and again on Monday, from 9:30 - 10AM, at the church prior to services.
