Charles F. Morgan

November 12, 1930 — March 4, 2018

Canfield - Charles F. Morgan, 87, passed away early Sunday morning, March 4, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Charles, affectionately known as "Chuck," was born November 12, 1930 in Cleveland, a son of the late Charles and Rose (Andel) Morgan.

He was raised in Youngstown and while in high school moved to New York with his family. He graduated from Utica High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951. Mr. Morgan served during the Korean War, stationed in Okinawa, until his honorable discharge in 1954 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Returning to the Youngstown area after his military service, Chuck began his career as an engineering draftsman at McKay Machine, which later became Wean United, for 25 years. He finished his career in human resources for East Ohio Machine and Alliance Technical Services, retiring in 1998 after 13 years of service.

Chuck will always be remembered as a friendly, caring, and giving man who didn't know a stranger. He enjoyed socializing and a good conversation. After retirement, Chuck volunteered his time and talents to several area organizations. He volunteered for Hospice of the Valley and also refurbished bicycles, donating them to a church for children. A talented artist, he also enjoyed sketching cartoons and donating them to the children at Akron Children's Hospital. Chuck's hobbies included building model airplanes, collecting trains, doing jigsaw puzzles, cars, and watching auto racing.

He and his wife, Doris, enjoyed traveling extensively together throughout the years. When Doris became ill, Chuck took on the most important role of loving caregiver during the last few years of her life.

His wife, the former Doris A. Ritenour, whom he married September 16, 1957, preceded him in death on October 10, 2011. Chuck was also preceded in death by his uncle, Frank Andel.

He is survived by his sister, Eunice Tetalman of Stone Mountain, GA; two daughters, Bobbi Morgan of St. Petersburg, FL and Linda (Stephan)) Reitmann of Murphy, NC; two sons, Barry (Linda) Morgan of Boardman and Mark Morgan of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Michael (Carrie) Aurin, Courtney (Scott) Norris, Sarah (Pat) Scenna, Allison (Mike) Herman, and Ashley (Troy) Verzani; and eight great-grandchildren, Charlie and Nora Aurin, Taelor and Jared Norris, Bailey Sisson, Barry and Kellen Pitzer, and Samuel Scenna.
