Struthers - Charles Astor Montgomery, 79, of Struthers, died Thursday, June 25th of complications from an automobile accident in North Lima. Mr. Montgomery also known as Chuck was born February 10, 1930 in Murphy, NC, a son of Worley and Josie Marr Montgomery.
In 1947 he came to Lowellville and worked at Republic Steel. He later owned and operated Chuck's Towing for 20 years. Mr. Montgomery retired from Ohio Edison Sub Station Maintenance in 1988.
Mr. Montgomery was a member of the Baptist Bible Church in Ravenna and the former St. Albans Masonic Lodge F&AM. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Besides his wife the former Doris June Earwood whom he married May 17, 1952 he leaves three sons, C. Michael (Robin) Montgomery of Poland, Daniel (Tina Sainito) Montgomery of Struthers, and Bryan (Mary) Montgomery of Petersburg; three sisters, Beulah McCafee, Ruby (Harvey) Stiles, and Pauline Brittain all of Murphy, NC; one brother, Kent Montgomery of Andrews, NC; and four grandchildren, Brittany, Danny, Bryan, and Sarah Montgomery.
Besides his parents, Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by one brother Buford Montgomery.
Services will be held Friday, 10:00 am at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers with Vince Hardy officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown.
Friends will be received Thursday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home in Struthers.
