Charles Eugene Meeker, 95, died December 23, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living. Mr. Meeker was born October 29, 1922 in Youngstown, a son of Orville and Sara Brown Meeker.
He was a 1940 graduate of Boardman High School, where he played football. He then went on to Mount Union and continued playing football. He was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.
Charles was a merchandiser for Stambaugh Thompson's and later manager Glidden Paint Store. He was active at Good Hope Lutheran Church, where he was on council and taught Sunday school.
In his younger days, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Charles was a WW II Army veteran, where he served in the 104th MP Platoon.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Dorothy (Sisler) Meeker of Poland; one daughter, Cheryl Dyer of Brunswick; one brother, Donald (Sue) Meeker of Poland; a niece, Donna Meeker; and a nephew, Brian Meeker.
Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Skipper Dyer.
A private memorial service was held for Charles. Arrangements were handled by Davis-Becker Funeral Home, Boardman.
