North Lima - Charles A. Horst, 83, died on Sunday, December 27, 2015 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. He was born February 22, 1932 in Columbiana, son of the late Galen and Dorothy Fishel Horst.
He was a 1950 graduate of North Lima High School and went on to obtain an Associates Degree from DeVry Institute in Chicago. Charles proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed as a mechanical electrician with Kaiser Aluminum, which then became National Refractories and Minerals, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the National Refractories Quarter Century Club and Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima. Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and making walking canes.
He leaves his wife, Carol Jean Beck Horst of North Lima; his son, Paul Horst of Twinsburg; his daughter, Tracey (Gene) Byler of Canfield; grandchildren, Joshua Horst and Jeremy Horst of Morrisville, NC, Matthew, Laura and Carissa Byler of Canfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dane Horst.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11am at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St. North Lima, with the Rev. Ralph Edwards officiating.
Friends will be received prior to the service from 10-11am on Thursday at the church
