Canfield - Charles R. Halowell, 76, of Canfield, died early Tuesday morning at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Charles also known as "Charlie" or "Chuck" was born June 10, 1935 in Struthers, a son of John and Mabel Shively Halowell.
A 1953 graduate of Struthers High School, Charles enlisted in the United States Army. Returning to the area, Charles worked for Gennaro Paving for 22 years.Charles was a member of the Moose Lodge Legion No. 87, the Croation Fraternal Union, St. George Lodge No. 66, the American Legion Post 472 and was an Honorary Member of the Societa Devoti Di Santa Lucia in Hillsville, PA. He enjoyed watching football and NASCAR.
Charles is survived by his sister, Nellie Mountz of Canfield; three nephews, James Halowell of Boardman, John (Maria) Halowell of MD, and Terry (Renae) Halowell of Warren; and one niece, Penny (John) Lindsay of McKinley Hts, OH.
Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and James Halowell; and one niece, Diane Davis.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1:00 pm at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, with Pastor Doug Theobald officiating. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the funeral home in Struthers.
