Charles W. Gough, Jr., 83 Struthers- Charles W. Gough, Jr., 83, of 371 Sexton Street died of cancer Saturday afternoon at his residence after a short illness. Mr. Gough was born August 27, 1918 in Struthers a son of Charles W. Gough, Sr. and Mary Knight Gough. After graduation from Struthers High School in 1936 he worked for his father at Gough Chevrolet in Youngstown. He then moved to the Los Angeles, California area where he worked for an automobile dealer until he was drafted during World War II. He served with the army in the 12th Air Force as a ground radar operator in Italy and Africa. In 1946 upon his return from the service he and his late brother John opened a used car business, Gough Motors on Market Street in Youngstown. They then opened a Kaiser-Frazier dealership in Struthers which they closed a few years later. In 1949 they founded Gough Ford on Elm Street in Struthers, which they later moved to Youngstown-Poland Road. They sold Gough Ford in 1978. Mr. Gough was a member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon. He was an avid golfer and a former member of Tippicanoe Country Club. He was a former member of the Downtown Optimist Club, Western Star F & AM # 21, the YMCA, the Struthers Business Association and local, state and national dealer and Ford Associations. He leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Gibb whom he married June 14, 1946; two daughters, Margaret L. Jacubec of Struthers, Phoebe A. Horvath and son in law John of Birmingham, Michigan, a son Walter W. Gough and daughter in law Kathy of Poland; a sister, Helen Louise Stevens of Grover Beach, California; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth (Lou) Gori, Jill Jacubec, Jon (Nancy) Jacubec, Matthew Jacubec, Shani (Vito) Sinopoli, Shannon (Jack) Demita, Amy Gough and Jenni Gough; four great grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, Jacob, and Jaret Jacubec. Two sisters Virginia Harr, Mary Guterba and his brother John W. Gough are deceased. Friends may call at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, Tuesday from 5-8 PM where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM.. Material tributes may be made in the form of contributions to the Struthers Presbyterian Church Capital Improvement Fund at 110 Poland Avenue Struthers , OH 44471 or Hospice of the Valley at 5190 Market Street Boardman, OH 44512.
