Charles Edmond Domhoff, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Maplecrest Nursing Home in Struthers.
Mr. Domhoff was born September 22, 1917 in Youngstown, a son of Charles H. and Anna M. Lindsay Domhoff. He was raised in Youngstown, then lived in Coitsville for 59 years, and most recently in Poland.
He was a 1935 graduate of Scienceville High School. Mr. Domhoff was a carpenter for Charles Shutrump and Sons and the Carpenters and Joiners Union Local 171, retiring in the 1980's after over 50 years of service.
He was a member of the former Grace Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School and Bible Study Classes. He was a member of the Struthers Baptist Tabernacle.
An outdoorsman, Mr. Domhoff enjoyed deer and small game hunting in Pennsylvania and Colorado and loved the winter months and the snow that came along with them. He was a gun smith and enjoyed working on cars.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, the former Evelyn E. Johnston, whom he married June 3, 1943; two daughters, Marilyn Domhoff of Peoria, AZ and Charlene (George) Radman of Dalton, PA; a son, Glenn (Christine) Domhoff of Honolulu, HI; sister, Jean Finger of Columbus; two grandchildren, Eric (Laura) Radman of Endicott, NY and Kevin (Rebecca) Radman of Philadelphia, PA; and two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Cadence Radman.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Domhoff was preceded in death by a daughter, Margretta Young; brother, William Domhoff; three sisters, Margretta McClelland, Edna Lenz, and an infant sister.
Services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers with Rev. Ray "Skip" Linebaugh officiating. Interment will be at Jackson Cemetery in Coitsville.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 3-6 p.m. and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mr. Domhoff's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512 or to Poland Village Baptist Church, 79 Hill Drive, Poland, Ohio 44514.
