Cecil E. Medrick, 77

POLAND - Cecil E. Medrick, 77, of Poland, died Monday afternoon at Sunrise Assisted Living.
Cecil was born on Aug. 2, 1933, in Logan, W. Va., a son of the late Joseph and Carrie Lucas Medrick. He was raised in Morgantown and lived in Tallahassee, Fla., before returning to this area. He and his wife, Dottie retired to North Carolina.
A 1952 graduate of Grafton High School in West Virginia, Cecil worked as a District Manager for BFI, in Pittsburgh and Youngstown, retiring in 1994 after 23 years of service.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean War.
Cecil was a member of the Argus Lodge F. & A.M. No. 545 and a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown and a member of the Aut Mori Grotto. He was a member of the Youngstown Rotary Club and the Lions Club in Mooresville, N.C. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing.
He leaves his wife, the former Dortha "Dottie" J. McDaniel, whom he married March 20, 1958; daughter, Lisa (Brian) Ferguson of Concord, N.C.; two sons, Michael (Jenny) Medrick of Canfield and Mark Medrick of Washington, D.C.; and a brother, Joseph Medrick of Surfside Beach, S.C.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland with the Rev. Robert Brigham officiating.
Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to express gratitude for all of the loving care provided by Sunrise Assisted Living of Poland and Southern Care Hospice Services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mr. Medrick's name to the Alzheimer's Assistance & Referral Network, 4214 Market St., P.O. Box 3383, Youngstown, OH 44513-3383.
