Catherine B. Schon, 84 Struthers- Catherine B. Schon, 84 of Maplecrest Nursing Home, formerly of Poland died Saturday afternoon at the nursing home. Mrs. Schon was born January 13, 1921 in Youngstown, a daughter of Thomas and Mary Sinkovich. She resided in Poland for over 41 years before moving to Glenellen and than Maplecrest. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Mrs. Schon was a homemaker. Mrs. Schon enlisted in the Womanâa�a��s Auxiliary Army Corp., during World War II and served from 1943 until 1945. She received the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, WAAC Service Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. She was a former member of the Struthers Eagles and the Struthers VFW Post #7538 and itâa�a��s Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Schon volunteered for the Election Board and was a member of Holy Family Church in Poland. Her husband Andrew Schon whom she married May 5, 1950 died February 27, 1977. She leaves one son, Ronald (Wendy) Schon of Boardman and one grandson, Andrew. Besides her parents and husband, five sisters, Anna Dzubak, Mary Botsko, Helen Grisdale, Rose Jubak and Millie Zolovick and five brothers, Steven, Thomas, Joseph, Michael and John Sinkovich are deceased. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11:00 AM at the chapel at Riverside Cemetery in Poland. Friends may call from 10:15 until 10:45 AM at the chapel.
