Poland - Catherine Louise Epps, 96, of Poland, died Sunday, July 27th at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman. Mrs. Epps was born June 23, 1912 in Dorr County, Michigan, a daughter of John and Lulu Stone Lewis. She has been a resident of Poland since 1940. She was a 1930 graduate of Hackley High School in Michigan and a 1933 graduate of Muskegon Community College majoring in business. While in Muskegon, she worked for the Federal Public Housing Authority and the Homeowner's Loan Corporation as a secretary. Mrs. Epps worked as a secretary for Poland United Methodist Church for 28 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Poland United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Administration Board, the United Methodist Women, the Prayer Ministry Team, the Seeker's Class, the Whole Life Class, and chair person of the Hope Circle. Her husband, George Epps, who she married September 15, 1944, died August 30, 1955. She leaves her daughter, Patricia Epps of Pittsburgh, Pa. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Philip and Robert Lewis. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 1st at 12:00 noon at the Poland United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Thursday, July 31st from 5-8 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and Friday from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Boardman.
