Catherine Hornyak Direnzo, 84
STRUTHERS - Catherine Hornyak Direnzo, 84, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Mrs. Direnzo was born Dec. 12, 1926, in Warrendale, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Balog Hornyak.
She was a 1944 graduate of Mars High School. Catherine had worked as a Purchasing Agent for Thomson Office Equipment in Thomson, Ga. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church, where she was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society, the Struthers Senior Citizens and was a member of the VFW Post No. 3538 Auxiliary.
Her husband, Patsey Direnzo, whom she married April 3, 1948, died March 25, 1989.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane (David) Austin of Canfield and Suzanne (Harold) Griswell of Gibson, Ga.; one son, Jeffrey S. DiRenzo of Thomson, Ga.; three grandchildren, Catherine (Scott) Turnbull of Warrenton, Ga., Sara (Adam) Shedd of Thomson, Ga. and Lauren Griswell of Gibson, Ga.; and three great-grandchildren, David, Kandius and Jasmine Turnbull.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Agnes Powell, Margaret Fincke and Betty Hovanec; and five brothers, Albert, John, Edward, Vincent and Francis Hornyak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers, where family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
