Salem - Catherine Suzanne "Sue" (Perrault) Davidson, 84, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024 at her daughter's home.
She was born March 20, 1940 in Johnson City, NY, a daughter of the late George and Catherine (Cummings) Perrault, Jr. She graduated from Salem High School and attended Mt. Union College before becoming a bus driver for Salem City Schools, where her handle was "Dog Catcher", a nod to her love of animals. She also worked alongside her husband in the family business, Davidson's Sales and Service, and was a lifetime member of the Damascus Fire Department, volunteering as an EMT.
Sue had a heart as big as her love for animals. From an early age, she showed an innate connection with creatures both big and small. Her home was always filled with the warmth of her beloved dogs, and she also dedicated her time to help reunite lost pets with their owners.
Sue's compassion knew no bounds-she would drop everything, no matter the time of day, to help anyone in need. She was a force of nature, fearlessly embracing life with a spirit of adventure. She found joy in the great outdoors, whether it was horseback riding, hiking, or simply enjoying nature. Sue’s love for life extended to her family, and she took her role of Dia very seriously, being the backbone to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored.
Sue’s kindness, strength, and love for both animals and people left an indelible mark on everyone she touched. She had an extraordinary way of making others feel cared for, whether they walked on two legs or four. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all the animals she helped along the way.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Douglas Lloyd (Lori) Davidson of Salem, Catherine Anne "Cathy" Davidson of Salem, and Joan Elizabeth (Rob Clark) Davidson-Clark of Salem; her grandchildren, Eric (Stefani) Davidson, Natalie (Jason) Steed, Mallorie Davidson, Macie (Jonah) Hake, Mitch (fiancée Sidney Cushman), Ellie, Annie, Abbie, and Ross Davidson, Cassie (Ed II) DeVille, Allee, Billy, Alivia, Alanee, Rylee, Reese, and Owen Davidson-Chuck, Corey Wellendorf, and Kaci (John) Sarchione; her great-grandchildren, Drew, Laith, and Rye Steed, Wyatt Wellendorf, E.J. DeVille, Danica, Johnny, Riddick, and Reighna Sarchione; and her brother, George "Chip" (Monique) Perrault; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William B. Davidson, Jr., who passed away July 21, 2020; and a son, Brian Lee Davidson.
Per Sue's wishes, there will be no services or calling hours.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Another Way Home Health Care and Patriot Hospice for their compassionate care of Sue in her time of need.
