Carmella “Millie” Marie Persico, 94
BOARDMAN - Carmella “Millie” Marie Persico, 94, died July 18, 2017, at the Hospice House.
Mrs. Persico was born July 9, 1923, in Rochester, N.Y., a daughter of Daniel and Lena Moscaritolo.
Millie was a seamstress for many years having retired from J.C. Penney after working there for 25 years.
Her true passion was quilting, knitting, and sewing, where she was a member of several quilting clubs in the area. She also was in the quilting group at the Canfield Fair. Millie made quilts for several organizations including veterans groups and Hospice.
One of her other interests was cooking for friends and family, and was known for her cookies and wedding soup.
Millie was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, where she was in the knitting club and they made prayer shawls and Christening baby blankets for newborns.
Her husband, George, whom she married May 11, 1946, died Dec. 27, 2006.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lee (John) Steinmuller of Cottage Grove, Wis. and Debra Persico of Denver; one son, Ralph (Jose Porcioncula) Persico of Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchildren, Jill Christine (Bradley) Hopkins of Hinkley, Minn. and Kristie Marie (Daniel) Pecard of Lodi, Wis.; five great-grandchildren, Sophia, Josephine and Carson Hopkins and Connor and Emma Pecard.
Besides her parents and husband, Millie was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and James Moscaritolo; and one sister, Marie Colavecchia.
Friends and family will be received Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St. in Boardman.
A prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church.
