AUSTINTOWN- ­ Carla Ann Medovich, 45, died Tuesday morning after a long illness at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Carla was born Feb. 16, 1963 in Youngstown, a daughter of Carmen and Dolores Elchuck Carmendy. She was raised in Struthers and moved to Austintown in 1992. A 1981 graduate of Struthers High School, Carla received her bachelors in business marketing from Youngstown State University in 1989. She also attended the Institute of Financial Education and American Institute of Banking. Carla began her career as a bank teller at Bank One of Eastern Ohio. Since 1984 Carla held many positions at Home Savings and Loan including branch manager, loan officer, marketing associate and project administrator. She was presently a Data Base Marketing Specialist. Carla was very active in promoting Home Savings and Loan, and in 1994 was honored for her outstanding volunteer efforts. She was involved in the Community Cup and the American Heart at Work program, where she used every resource to make Home Savings employees desire and implement a healthy lifestyle. Through these efforts Carla touched many people¹s lives. Carla was a person that family and friends regularly turned to. She worked tirelessly to be available to everyone, especially her children. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Besides her mother, Dee, of Struthers, Carla leaves her husband, Stephen Medovich, whom she married June 25, 1988; three sons, Tyler, 15, Zachary, 14, and Jonathon, 13, Medovich, all at home; two brothers, Steve Carmendy of Santa Monica, Calif. and David (Lori) Carmendy of Powell; her mother-in-law, Mary Medovich of Struthers; sister-in-law, Janice (Robert) Hopen of Chatham, N.J.; brother-in-law, Raymond (Tami) Medovich of Westerville; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Besides her father, Carmen, who died Dec, 10, 1978, Carla was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Steve J. Medovich. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Austintown with Father John Trimbur officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Lowellville. Friends will be received Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Carla Medovich Family Memorial Fund c/o Homes Savings and Loan, 275 Federal Plaza West in Youngstown.
