Carl Raymond Hazen, 84 Sandusky- Carl Raymond Hazen, 84, formerly of California died Sunday morning at the Ohio Veterans Home. Mr. Hazen was born September 14, 1920 in Van Meter, Iowa a son of Charles and Stella Sweezy Hazen. He had lived in California and North Carolina before moving to the Veterans Home. A graduate of Van Meter High School, he retired in 1977 as a patrolman from the Los Angeles Police Department after 31 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He had been a member of the LAPD Blue Line, the Elks and the Moose. Mr. Hazenâa�a��s first wife, Marilyn died in 1994. He leaves his wife, the former Shirley Jean Platteborze whom he married April 4, 1995; step-daughters, Nanette (Craig) Young of East Liverpool, Cheri Powers of Charlotte, North Carolina; a grandson John Hazen of Sacramento, California and a nephew, Graham Hazen of Dumas, Texas.
