Carl Henry Englehart

North Lima - Carl Henry Englehart, 93, of North Lima, formerly of Poland, died Sunday afternoon, September 14, 2014 at Assumption Village, where he resided for the past 4 years.

Carl was born March 19, 1921 in Youngstown, OH, a son of Carl and Dora Becker Englehart.

A life-long resident of Poland, Carl was a 1939 graduate of Poland Seminary High School. He attended Ohio State University for one year before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. Carl was a radar operator on a torpedo bomber in Guadalcanal in the Philippines during World War II. After the war, Carl returned to Poland. He attended Youngstown College and received his BA in advertising.

He worked for Outdoor Advertising and then AF Beil Electric in sales before starting his own company, the Lighting Service Company in the 70's and 80's. He retired from the business after 10 years of service. After many years of working, Carl and his wife Mid, with brother-in-law, Chuck Noufer and his wife Mary, enjoyed traveling the United States by motor home. They also traveled all of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Russia, by plane, boat, car and train. Spain and Portugal were their favorite. They enjoyed seeing wonderful sites, making new friends, and sharing in a good bottle of wine. Carl also enjoyed golfing, fishing and had a love of music and in high school played taps for the Poland Memorial Day Parade Services at Riverside Cemetery. Carl never met a stranger. Everyone who knew him, loved him. He had many friends and will be remembered by all as a very friendly and loving person.

Carl was a former member of the Poland Optimist Club, college fraternity, and honorary member of the American Legion Post.#472. He was a Charter member of Holy Family Church in Poland.

His wife of 62 years, the former Mildred Noufer, whom he married August 5, 1950, died September 8, 2012. He leaves two sons, Gary (Mark Hamilton) Englehart of Lisbon and Randy Englehart of Youngstown; and one daughter, Nancy (Steve) Iscuria of Jefferson, GA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church in Poland. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, 9AM until 10:30 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street, Poland, where a Prayer Service will be held at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
