Camden “Pete” Broadwater, 89, of Poland, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Health Center – Boardman.
Born January 11, 1935 in Harrisville, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Bernard and Virginia (Fisher) Broadwater.
A graduate of Onsted High School in Michigan, Pete’s career began at Tecumseh Products in 1953, where he distinguished himself as the youngest supervisor for a plant with approximately 500 employees. After a few years in the finance business, he furthered his professional journey at Aeroquip Corporation in Jackson, Michigan, serving as a production expeditor.
On March 12, 1965, Pete married the love of his life, Margaret Penn. Their marriage flourished over nearly six decades, characterized by love, partnership, and shared memories. In 1968, he transferred to Youngstown, Ohio, to take on the role of project manager at the Aeroquip RR Plant. His dedication to excellence led him to numerous management positions, culminating in his promotion to manager in 1974, where he oversaw operations at three plants while a fourth was under construction. He remained with Aeroquip until its closure in 1978.
Pete embraced new challenges at Republic Hose Corporation, which acquired Aeroquip. As president of the plant, he guided its operation for a decade before it was purchased by Trelleborg Corporation of Sweden in 1988, leading to its closure in 1990. Pete continued his esteemed career with Nephi Rubber Productions in Utah from 1990 to 1996 and subsequently with Parker Hannifin in Green Camp, Ohio, from 1996 until his retirement in 2001.
Pete’s legacy lives on through his loving wife, Margaret “Peggy” Broadwater, of Poland; his daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Richardson, Susan (Denis) Schneider, Cheryl McEwen, and Julie Soloman; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sister, Barbara Norris; and his niece, Stacy Throne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; several aunts and uncles; two half-brothers; and a his stepson.
Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Boardman United Methodist Church, located at 6809 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512, where a memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.
