Bruce Eugene Owens

Struthers - Bruce Eugene Owens, 77, of W. Hopewell Drive was welcomed home by Jesus Thursday, February 28, 2008. Bruce was born April 13, 1930 in Youngstown, the son of Thomas and Doris Frey Owens. He was a 1948 graduate of Ursuline High School. Bruce was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Navy. Bruce had worked as an electrician for the Local #64 of Youngstown for 40 years before his retirement in 1992. He had a pilot's license, loved to fly, and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Bruce was also an excellent at remodeling. Bruce devoted his life to sharing the Gospel as a servant of the Lord. He was very gracious with his time in helping others. He leaves his wife of 53 years, the former Betty J. Buchanan, whom he married August 7, 1954; two daughters, Janine (Thomas) Fleming of Poland and Michelle (Carl) Snyder of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Thomas II and Joshua Fleming and Noah and Madison Snyder; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Greg Owens; and his sister, Thelma Knezevich. Family and friends will be received today from 11:45 a.m.-12-45 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland where funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Bruce's name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
