Salem-Brian Lee Davidson, 45, of Salem passed away Tuesday morning, February 5, 2008, with his family by his side. Brian was born August 18, 1962, in Salem, Ohio, to William B. and Catherine âa�A"Sueâa�A� Perrault Davidson Jr. He attended the Ohio State School for the Blind, where he was on the swimming, track, and wrestling teams. He won the honor of taking second place in the United States Association of Blind and Partially Sighted Wrestlers. He ended the 1978-1979 season with a record of 27-0, and wrestled in fourteen state tournaments. Only last Saturday, Brian was inducted into the Eastern Ohio Wrestling League Hall of Fame, where he received a standing ovation. Brian was also recently notified that he will be inducted into the Salem High School Athletic Hall of Fame in the fall of 2008. Brian was also the first recipient of the âa�A"Rolf Vogtâa�A� award his senior year of high school. Brian was mainstreamed in 1979 to the Salem Senior High School, where he wrestled and participated in track and football. As an outstanding wrestler, Brian received many honors such as a 27-2 record his junior year and placing 16th in the state his senior year. Whether Brian won or lost a match, he was truly a winner in the game of life! He was also a past member of The Negley Volunteer Fire Department. Brian followed closely with his nieces and nephews sporting events and was a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan. Brian was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem. Brian is survived by his parents, Bill and Sue of Salem; a brother, Doug (Lori) Davidson and their children, Eric, Natalie, Mallorie, Macie, Mitch, Ellie, Annie, Abbie, and Ross, all of Salem; two sisters, Cathy (Victor) Davidson-Chuck and their children Cassie, Allee, Billy, Alivia, Alanee, Rylee, and Reese and Joan (Rob) Clark and children, Corey and Kaci Wellendorf, all of Salem; his companion, Marcella Stephens, and her son, Cody, both of Hanoverton; and many loyal and close friends. Brian was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Kay Perrault; and paternal grandparents, Bill and Norma Davidson. There are no calling hours. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem followed by a luncheon in the gym.
