Brenda Jean Bayus
February 23, 1949 — October 24, 2016
Brenda Jean Bayus, 67, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016. A loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, she is preceded in death by her parents.
Brenda was born in Youngstown on February 23, 1949, the daughter of Nick and Helen (Kanocz) Bayus.
An active member of the Youth Group in The American Hungarian Reform Church (now Rockview Christian Church) when she was young, Brenda has maintained her membership with the church throughout her life.
After graduating from Boardman High School in 1967, Brenda worked for various businesses in the Youngstown area, including Youngstown Sheet & Tube and Youngstown Steel Tank.
In 1985, Brenda moved to the Washington DC area and began her career in NBC4 Washington’s finance department, where she was highly respected and loved by her NBC “family”. In her 50s Brenda went back to school and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Finance Management from the University of Maryland. After a long and productive career as Finance Manager, she retired in 2014 after 29 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Nick Bayus and Mark (Lilly) Bayus, nephew Ryan Freeland, nieces Marisa(Tony) Martin and Carina Bayus, 2 great nephews Ryan Jr. and Christian Freeland, and 2 adoring feline children Molly and Jake.
On December 29th, a memorial will be held at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 North Main Street in Poland, Ohio at 3:45PM. Immediately followed by a celebration of Brenda’s life at the Holiday Inn, 7410 South Avenue in Boardman.
Family and friends will be received between 3 -3:45 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
