Bonnie Lynn Leck

April 12, 1959 — August 12, 2018

Poland

Poland - Bonnie Lynn Leck, 59, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday evening, August 12, 2018 at her residence while recovering from surgery.

Bonnie was born April 12, 1959 in Youngstown, a daughter of William and Shirley Denmeade Leck.

Raised in Struthers, Bonnie was a graduate of Struthers High School, Class of 1977. A lover of books and a voracious reader, Bonnie found herself working at B. Dalton Book Store at the Southern Park Mall, where she was later promoted to manager. After 25 years of service to B. Dalton in 2002 they closed their doors. In 2004 Bonnie was employed at Borders at the Eastwood Mall and worked there until their closing in 2011. After Borders, Bonnie worked part-time at Barnes and Noble at the Shops at Boardman Park and in housekeeping for Becker Funeral Homes. Her position at Becker's grew into a full time position as receptionist specializing in insurance claims at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home office in Poland. Many families who were served by Bonnie commented on how much they appreciated her kindness in assisting them.

Bonnie, along with her mother, volunteered for the Struthers Band Boosters working the concessions at the former annual Aut Mori Grotto Circus which was held at the Struthers Field House. She was a former member of the Struthers Woman Bowling League. She enjoyed weekly breakfast with family and friends at What's Cooking and playing Words with Friends on her laptop. She was a life-long member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church now known as Struthers Parkside Church.

Bonnie could be found spending countless hours knitting and crocheting. She was so proud to have been able to teach her niece, Erin her talent and family and friends will cherish her famous blankets, baby caps, Halloween head bands and hats and so many other handcrafted items. Bonnie was also generous in sharing her never endless resources of unedited versions of soon to be published books to her friends and co-workers.

She centered herself around family and was a wonderful daughter, sister, and aunt. Bonnie loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children and she would do anything for them. Along with family, Bonnie loved animals and taking care and baby sitting all of her family's pets.

Her mother Shirley, whom she sadly grieved, preceded her in death a year ago on August 23, 2017. She leaves her father Bill of Struthers; two sisters, Deborah Bloomberg of Struthers and Kimberly (Troy) Fronzaglio of Huron; nieces and nephews, Erin (Bob) Carcelli of Struthers, Rachel (Ian) Pethtel of Struthers, and Lindsay and Jared Fronzaglio of Huron; one great nephew, Robert Carcelli; and two great-nieces, Angelina and Alyssa Carcelli.

Friends will be received Friday, August 17, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 5:45 pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home followed by a service honoring Bonnie's life at 6:00 pm with Pastor James Berkebile officiating. Bonnie's family will host a dinner following the service at the Becker Family Center.
