Betty Jane Sprague, 94
POLAND - Betty Jane Sprague, 94, died Aug. 31, 2012, at the Hospice House.
Mrs. Sprague was born July 12, 1918, in Youngstown, a daughter of Thomas and Estella (Morgan) Roberts. She was raised in Struthers and then lived in Poland the majority of her life.
She was a 1937 graduate of Struthers High School and attended the Youngstown Business College for two years. Mrs. Sprague first worked as a librarian for the Struthers Library for eight years and then as a bank teller for Dollar Savings Bank, retiring in 1984 after 22 years of service.
She was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Gale L. Sprague, whom she married Sept. 4, 1942, died May 30, 2011.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca ³Becky² Williams of Poland and Roberta ³Bobbie² Ridel of Columbiana; sister, Sarah ³Sally² Metzler of Warren; four grandchildren, Kristen (Greg) Shepley of Girard, Kelly (Jeff) Pellin of Boardman, Matt (Kristin) Ridel of Maumee, and Bob (Sarah) Ridel of Youngstown; and seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Abigail, Joshua, Jordan, Emma, Kaitlyn, and Eliza.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Marion Hill, Isabella Weden, and Eleanor Adams; and her son-in-law, Alfred Ridel.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 5 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where family and friends will be received from 4 to
5 p.m., prior to the service.
