Youngstown - Betty M. Musselman, of Youngstown, formerly of Boardman, died January 18, 2009 peacefully at her residence. Mrs. Musselman was born in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Dr. F. F. and Belva Monroe. Mrs. Musselman was a graduate of Boardman High School and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Chatham University. She worked as an elementary teacher for 34 years. Mrs. Musselman started her teaching career at Boardman Elementary School, then taught at Sheridan Elementary School, and retired from Paul C. Bunn Elementary School, where she spent the majority of her teaching career. She was a member of the Boardman United Methodist Church, the Ohio Retired Teacher's Association, the Glen Gardeners, the Tourist Club, the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Chatham College Alumni, and the Youngstown Country Club. She loved playing bridge and gardening, especially tending to her red bud trees and giving "starts" of the trees to all of her friends. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William E., whom she married October 25, 1947; her daughter, Peggy Smith (Dr. Andrew Larner) of Charlottesville, VA; son, Dr. Paul Musselman of Poland; sister, Peggy (William L.) Spencer of Youngstown; eight grandchildren, Richard Smith, Aaron Larner, Elizabeth Larner, Abigail Larner, Amy Musselman, Andrew Musselman, Peter Musselman, and Mallory Musselman. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
