Boardman - Betty Jane Kushma, 84 of Boardman, died Sunday, November 1, 2009.
Mrs. Kushma was born April 3, 1925 in Struthers, a daughter of Wilson and Elizabeth Maurer Garwood, and was a life long area resident.
She was a 1943 graduate of Struthers High School. Mrs. Kushma was a homemaker and a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers. Mrs. Kushma also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking and was an excellent cook.
Her husband, Andrew Kushma, whom she married June 16, 1943 died August 13, 2001.
She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Couts of Boardman, and one son, Dale A. Kushma Sr. of Boardman, six grandchildren, Lori (Joshua) Crook, Aaron Couts and Andrew Couts all of Queens, NY; Dale A. Kushma II of Boardman, Sean Kushma of Poland and Maureen (Robert) LaCivita of Avon; and two Great-Grandchildren, Maria and Michael LaCivita, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one brother, William Garwood, and one sister, Louisa Slick Wardle.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 am at the funeral home, where family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:15.
The Kushma family would like to thank the nursing and therapy staff of the Woodlands at Hampton Woods for their kindness and compassionate care.
