Poland - Betty Gulas, 94, died September 9, 2017 at Assumption Village.
Mrs. Gulas was born March 11, 1923 in Springfield, Louisiana, a daughter of Joseph and Ilona Farkas Timko.
She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Betty was a salesperson for McKelvey's and Bond's Clothing and was the manager for the men's department at Strouss. She was a member of Holy Apostles Parish @ St. Stephen of Hungary, where she was in the Altar Rosary Society, Silver and Gold Club, a greeter, Eucharist Minister, and helped with bingo.
She also was a member of the Poland Homemaker's Club and Poland Democratic Club.
Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed doing search puzzles.
Her husband, Joseph John Gulas, whom she married July 11, 1945, died Dec. 4, 1976.
She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl (Michael) Werblan of Howland; two sons, Joseph (Michele) Gulas of Youngstown and Charles (Diane) Gulas of Dayton; four grandchildren, Michael Werblan Jr. of Denver,CO, Melissa (James) Koltiska of Avon, Christine and Joseph Gulas of Dayton; and one great-grandchild, Shamus Koltiska.
Besides her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by four sisters, Peg Yahn, Julia Matasy, Helen Matasy, and Ethel Toth; and three brothers, Joseph, Alex, and Julius Timko.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at Holy Apostles Parish @ St. Stephen of Hungary, 854 Wilson Ave., Youngstown, where friends and family will be received one hour prior.
Arrangements are being handled by Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland.
