Beaver - Betty J. Davies, 78, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024 at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph in Baden, PA.
She was born September 7, 1946 in Rochester, PA, a daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Ofcharka) Markulin and grew up in Monaca, PA. She graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1964 and studied at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Charles, on August 24, 1968 and worked as a secretary to the chief naval architect at American Bridge for seven years, until the birth of their first child, Michael, in 1972. In 1977, her second son, Matthew, was born. She chose to be a stay-at-home mom until her sons were older, returning to work within the Poland Schools in 1988.
Betty was deeply involved in her children's lives and their community. She served as PTA President at Dobbins Elementary and was an active participant in the Cub Scouts as a den mother. Additionally, she supported her children’s sports activities as a team mom for Poland Little League Baseball. Her dedication extended to her faith community, where she was actively involved at Zion Lutheran Church of New Middletown until her health began to decline.
In her personal life, Mrs. Davies enjoyed gardening, traveling, and home decorating. She especially loved celebrating the holidays, delighting her family with baked goods such as nut rolls and apricot cookies. Summers at the beach brought her great joy, combining her love for the season with her passion for family and relaxation.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Michael E. (Sheri) Davies of Fort Worth, TX and Matthew E. (Molly) Davies of Beaver, PA; her grandchildren, Zachary M. Davies of Ft. Worth, TX and Julia M. Patrisian, of Beaver, PA; brother, Richard (Teresa) Markulin of Canfield; sister, Susan Kalcevic of Yulee, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles E. Davies, Jr., who passed away on May 19, 2011.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, followed immediately by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m., celebrated by Pastor Larry Klinker.
