Lowellville - Betty Jean Boyer, 76, of Lowellville, died early Wednesday morning at Maplecrest Nursing Home in Struthers. Betty was born February 28, 1932 in Lowellville, a daughter of Charles and Annie Katcher Schreckenghost and was a life-long resident of Lowellville. Betty was a 1941 graduate of Lowellville High School and was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Lowellville Methodist Church. She enjoyed embroidering, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren until her illness. Besides her husband of 60 years, Wayne Boyer, whom she married November 20, 1948, she leaves two sons, Victor (Sue) Boyer of Salem and Marshall (Charlotte) McCree of Hubbard; four grandchildren, Peter (Lisa) Boyer, Gregory (Tonia) Boyer, Amy Boyer, and Vera McCree; and three great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Charles, and Paul Schreckenghost; and six sisters, Edna, Alberta, and Grace Schreckenghost, Ruth Southerland, Dorothy Williams, and Anna Boyer. Private services will be held Friday at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
