STRUTHERS - Bessie Porter, 83, of Riley Street, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Pembrook Place with her family at her side. Mrs. Porter was born Sunday, September 7, 1924 in Youngstown, a daughter of Gust & Mary Nickolaides Chelos and was a lifelong resident of Struthers. She worked as a waitress for McKelvey's for 50 years and was a member of the St. John's Greek Orthodox Church in Boardman. She leaves her husband of 49 years whom she loved unconditionally, Ruben "Mark" Porter, whom she married August 19, 1958; two sisters, Helen Carbon of Cleveland and Joan Ciccotelli of Boardman; two nieces, Barbara (Nick) Damico and Lois (Pat) Marco; one great niece, Nicole (David) Powell; one great nephew, Jim Damico; and a great-great niece, Angelina Powell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Anastasia "Lucille" Kantaras; an infant brother, Andy Chelos; and two brothers-in-law, Frank Carbon and Louis Ciccotelli. There will be no calling hours. Private services will be held Monday at the St. John's Greek Orthodox Church, 4955 Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, where her body will lie in state from 10:30 - 11:00 am. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at the church. Interment will be at Belmont Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.
